NMN Construction was proud to contribute to one of Los Angeles’ most ambitious high-rise transformations: the Century Plaza Development. Working alongside Webcor Builders, we performed structural retrofit services on the historic Century Plaza Hotel, originally designed by renowned architect Minoru Yamasaki.
Our scope included expanding foundations, drilling and epoxying approximately 90,000 dowels, surface preparation to ¼-inch amplitude, placing built-up slabs, shotcrete walls against existing structural elements, slab on metal decks, elevated decks, concrete columns, and infill work throughout the structure. The complexity of this work demanded precision and consistency across a wide range of structural elements.
This project was both technically demanding and logistically complex, taking place within a live construction environment surrounded by the ground-up build of twin 44-story glass towers and the renovation of an active hotel. Our field team collaborated closely with project stakeholders to sequence work safely and efficiently in tight, urban quarters—all while upholding the design integrity of a historic Los Angeles landmark.
